PHOTOGRAPHY, SOMETHING MAGIC
Photojournalism is the process of storytelling using the medium of photography as your main
story telling device. While a journalist will use their pen and paper to tell stories, a
photojournalist will use their camera to capture the visual representation of a story.
Photojournalist pay varies by medium. Television photojournalists made mean wages of $45,000
in 2011, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics(1). Most, photojournalism client are;
magazines, newspaper, and documentary movies. In fact, photojournalism revenue streams
depends on how good the picture, and where the photo been taken. For example, if a
photojournalism been taken in war zone, like in Syria in this days it will cost more than taking a
photo in London.
On other hand, there are some photography they set up a view that cost time
and money like Joe McNally. Still, a photography can work full time in newspaper, or magazine,
and depends how big the agency. There are some professional photojournalists’ organization;
- PPA; professional photographers of America 2- B&H Photos Video. 3- Elinchrom. 4- World Photography Organization.
There are important things to join a photojournalists organization, they will help me in my
Career, to gain new clients for my business, offering a network and community of other.
Photographers. I will keep my skills better, and clients like to see me with some organization
in my website or in my office in work.(2). Most the organization are free, and some does not
cost more than $100.

This practice started in 1853 when the first known photojournalist landed on the scene.
Carol Szathmari, a Romanian painter and photographer, documented the Crimean War. This
engraving technique was used in the American Civil War as well to print the photographs of
Mathew Brady in the publication Harper’s weekly. (3). with the advent of the first 35mm
Leica camera in 1925, as well as the invention of the first commercial flash bulbs in 1927,
the stage was set for the “golden age of photojournalism”. This so-called “golden age” is
considered to span the 1930s to the 1960s.(4)
there are many photographer that Annie Leibovitz one of the best in history, she
photographed John Lennon on the day he was assassinated, and her work has been used on
numerous album covers and magazines. I really would like to shoot for National Geographic
in the end.
