Jorge Villareal Jr. is in his fourth year of college studying digital filmmaking at New Mexico State University’s Creative Media Institute. Before moving to Las Cruces for school, Jorge lived in El Paso Texas where he began embracing his passion in filmmaking with high school media projects. Along with a vigorous course work schedule, Jorge is also a work-study student who manages the front office of the CMI department. He has worked on several films as a sound engineer, editor, and director. When asked how he would flip the university upside down, the 22-year old said food prices was an important issue.

“Food prices, get them down! Have more food that is available and healthy…Make NMSU great again,” he says with a laugh. Though he doesn’t believe he or his peers have a hard time paying for food, he thinks it’s food on campus is outrageously priced. “As crazy expensive, it’s ridiculous to pay like $6 for sushi…” With rising tuition rates, textbook costs, and various other course expenses, it is evident food costs is yet another expense students at New Mexico State have to worry about.
