Turning the World Upside Down
Las Cruces, N.M. – Many university students have ideas on how they would turn their community upside down. There are many things that could be done to change the community around us.
Mikhala Churchman, 22, has her own ideas. Mikhala, a native Las Cruces resident, is a senior studying civil engineering. She has grown up in a Christian home and that is a big part of her life. Mikhala has been in several Christian communities and traveled overseas and shared Jesus with people. Her relationship with God is first in her life.
To turn the university world upside down Mikhala would emphasis love. Jokingly Mikhala answered the question to turn the university upside down she would, “make an earthquake so all the chairs and tables would turn upside down.” In all seriousness Mikhala would address the misunderstanding of groups, specifically the Christian community.
It’s highly likely you have encountered someone who is or claims to be a Christian, if not you’ve at least heard of Christians in the news. Mikhala would sow people that not all Christians are the same, and not all will respond to certain issues in the same way. Many people have witnessed “Christians” shoving their views down people’s throats and forcing them the agree with them, but that’s not the gospel. Love. Mikhala would show people that it’s not about our own beliefs that should take priority, but simply caring and loving other people around us. This goes both ways, as Mikhala has gotten some harsh comments toward her. Mikhala would emphasis, “being the best version of ourselves.” Some Christians act in a very negative way, and even hateful and that’s not how Christians should act. Mikhala wants to change peoples minds about how they view Christians and how people in treat each other in general.
Nice explanatory story. Well done! Yu are a good writer. The photo is OK but I think you could serve your ghoal better if you didn’t BACKLIGHT, thus throwing the subject’s face into shadow.
