The Senior Discount

This community group is dedicated to providing senior citizens with a free, warm meal and provides lunches every week, Monday through Friday. Growing up during the Great Depression, WWII, and the rise of the American empire, these colorful folk had a lot to say about their experiences and life in general. I felt extremely welcome as everyone held a smile and shared with me the adventures of their youth. My mind was swept away by tales of labor, love and loss as I shared in the experience of a dozen lifetimes during my time among them. The amount of life they lived blew my mind and their restless spirits awakened a new eagerness in me to go out and fully experience the world. To say I was overwhelmed is an understatement, these people welcomed me into their place of refuge without knowing me and welcomed me as if we had always been friends. Each coming from a different place and perspective yet they somehow all managed to end up here happy and content in the new friendships they’ve found.
