The slow death of pigments in the skin, known as vitiligo, leave a white map of spots across this person's shoulder.

It is the largest organ of the human body and can be the most telling thing about us. It can reveal our health, our mental state or trauma. It can represent our survival and strength along with our weaknesses. Perhaps since it can say so much about who we are or where we’ve been, it is the very reason some choose to hide it. Yet, for this project, it was my desire to bring a delicate emphasis to the fine details of skin.

Vitiligo spots speckle across this young woman’s hand.

  1. Great idea and well done.
I think you need just a little more “pop” in the images. Just a little. Bring up the contrast. You could mash the scar (etc.) areas and just bring up the contrast in that alone.
    Interesting body of work.
In fact, all semester, your work has been very intelligent and well-executed. I suggest you go back to that fourth floor of the library (it’s a little more evident than doing this online) and realize you are in a very select group of photographers that have a narrow and fierce vision and let nothing interfere with it.
I have very bad news for you: you’re a photographer.
