Milton Hall Gaze

Elena Valdez, 21, NMSU senior, takes a break from our late afternoon conversation to gaze out the window.

The theme of this assignment was to document things of relevance to me. The story given was that Earth, was on the verge of being destroyed and I was given the mission to document my last days  on the planet so I would have visual memories to take with me to my new home on another planet. While the story shown in through these photos aren’t exactly inanimate objects that are important to me, each photo holds a story to them that strikes a certain chord in my heart. For one, I included a photo of my dog because he is truly a remarkable little guy and understands me more than most people do (hence the Mark Twain quote I have captioned for him). A majority of these images include times I spent hanging out school or exploring through the city of El Paso. When I first moved to El Paso, I was not particularly fond of the area due to the fact that it was so different from the other places I have lived in. As I grew older, I grew fond of this little big city. Through my images, I tried to capture El Paso as how it used to be before the introduction of all the urban development in the city.
