Jude Smith, 20 is a painter based in Las Cruces. When capturing this image I decided the main definition of his image, should be his art.

“There’s two main ideas behind my latest pieces. One is movement, I relate the process of the painting to life because just like with life; if your not moving forward or moving at all you stay stagnate and nothing changes. Same idea with the paint, after I apply the different layers without any movement then they’ll dry up and harden halting any changes that would’ve been made in the piece. Two, would be color. I try and base each piece off of a certain emotion or thought. So each color usually would represent how I’m feeling about myself, my life, family etc. And the idea is no matter how grim the emotion is or happy it may be; the colors will still conform and mix with eachother just like our emotions do but in more conformity. Also in a way you can visually comprehend.”
