Iron Focus 15 – Military Training by Kimberly T. Rodriguez is a book documenting a military training simulation. The collection works as a glimpse into their training exercises.

The photography, itself, is wonderful and looks professional; each photograph is clear, focused, framed, and balanced. Each images was powerful and included a lot of information. I was excited to turn the page each time to see what was next. Rodriguez clearly has a natural eye for photography.

The book includes concise captions for each of the photographs. The captions seemed very necessary so that the viewer can have some context as to what is going on in the image. I really liked the fact that Rodriguez included the time of each photograph, and it was in military time. It seemed to fit well with the military theme and keep the viewer engaged. The only downside was that the photographs were not in order. With including the times of each photograph I feel that the images should have been in order by time. It would have made the collection feel fluid and like the viewer is following a story, a full day in the soldiers life.

The text in the beginning did a great job explaining the training simulation and giving the viewer background information to understand the book, fully.

(Two thumbs up!)
