A short 45 minute drive from Las Cruces, New Mexico will lead you into the little town of Hatch. Though seemingly small, the people of Hatch add a certain charm to the town. Unlike bigger cities, everything closes early and everyone seems to know each other which adds to a sense of familiarity in the town. I was taken aback by how kind everyone was that I met and most responded well to the photo project. The Small Village New Mexico project was a new experience for me, especially since I hail from bigger cities so it was actually really refreshing to explore all the small towns we visited this past semester. As I mentioned before, everyone is so friendly and it’s almost like one big family in comparison to a bigger city where people don’t even acknowledge the existence of others. This has definitely been a fulfilling semester and I am walking out of this project with a much more different perspective towards people.

  1. Nice image. It needs a “Levels” check. I think it’s underexposed.
Writing is a good start but a little less “first person” and a lot more about those people and that town. Get quotes. It’s not about you.
