BI WEEKLY POST 3
The term “Anchor Baby” is commonly used to describe children born in the United States to undocumented migrant parents. This photo project will examine the daily lived experience of individuals sometimes referred to as Anchor Babies.
This photo project will focus on American-born children to undocumented migrants in the El Paso-Juarez border region of the United States. The controversy surrounding the case of “Anchor Babies” is one that is rooted in anti-immigration discourse that declares all children born to undocumented migrants as a means to an end providing the undocumented the opportunity for United States citizenship. The stereotypical treatment of these so called “Anchor Babies” is compiled of degrading and dehumanizing generalities that have not been thoroughly examined but instead incessantly constructed by many different people over time. It is my goal to provide a look into the daily lives of at least one of these individuals and share their story through images only in the book project.
Nice work. Sharper. Focus is good.
