BEING A NANNY
The toddler years in a child’s life tends to be chaotic. Even more so when these parents leave their children off either at a daycare, pre-school, baby sitter or a nanny, while they are off at work. Throughout the project I focused on a nanny that has taken care of these two children from the age of four months.
There are all different types of nannies, like there are the ones that live with the people that they are taking care of their children and then there are nannies that take care of people’s children on a regular basis, but go home right after the parents get home. Parents of children do not leave their child or children with any regular person. The parents of these children make sure that they trust these nannies’ that take care of their children and make sure they will take care of these children as if they were their own.
Children at this specific age are always unpredictable, and try to test their caregiver by seeing how much trouble they can actually get away with. Some day’s toddlers are super easy-going and then there are days that they grumpy because they are tired and just don’t want to take a nap. Most kids in this age group usually just stay home and watch television and snack all day. When taking care of children, you have to make sure that you have educational activities that will pass the time by and make it enjoyable. Activities that are usually fun for the kids ranges from home activities like play groups where you have centers for them to do like Play-Doh, color station and alphabet stations to name a few. Other fun things to do like going to the local park or just going out to the grocery shopping to get out of the house.
