Alex Noriega
The document photographer I chose is Alex Noriega. He has been shooting for seven years, his main focus is landscape photography. I chose him because his pictures have a nice mood to them. Through his pictures I got the sense of quiet and calmness. I felt calm looking at his pictures mainly because the scenes in them seem like distant calm places away from urban areas and away from a lot of noise. I think that’s why I enjoy taking landscape pictures as well because you get to see the world from afar. Almost as if you’re placing yourself out of the world for a little bit to capture it with your camera. Even in pictures of city landscapes, sure you may still be in the city but at the same time you’re a distance away from the city to be able to get the right shot.
His work has been in numerous publications like USA Today, Scholastic and many more, in 2016 he won three big awards all in international competitions. He won USA Landscape Photographer of the Year, The Epson International Pano Awards and International Landscape Photographer of the year. The picture I chose as one of my favorites is called Triple Twilight. I like it because there’s a lot of different shades of color in the photo. I also like that in the sky he was able to catch a few stars if you look really close. Mostly because I think the sky and the clouds look really pretty. I would imagine he took this picture right before the sun went down and the pink shadow on the clouds is just my favorite part of it all.
