Of his two co-workers, Saúl Granillo is the one who moves the most around the work site.
Saúl Granillo installs fiber optic cables to upgrade the Internet infrastructure in the Las Cruces area. He works along three others when the Sun hits the most. It’s a tough job. The kind that gets you dirty every time. They dig holes with machinery and shovels to enhance Internet speeds. These people work hard for us to have a convenience that we take for granted everyday.
I chose to photograph him because I wanted to get insight about why the job they do matters. Of his co-workers, he’s the one who does most of the physical work, so he seemed to be the most interesting.
