Ph Survivor
Lauren Thompson is a junior at New Mexico State University, she is studying family and child sciences. I thought Lauren was interesting because she had oxygen and usually people have a pretty interesting story behind their medical conditions. While talking with Lauren she mentioned how she was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension or Ph in May of 2002.
She has been living with this condition for 14 years, which is much longer than doctors thought she would survive. When Lauren and her family found out the diagnosis the doctors were not very optimistic. Lauren has lived well past the timeline the doctors predicted. She hopes to finish school and begin working in hospitals with children to help them acclimate to the hospital. She has grown up in Las Cruces, but commutes to Denver and Albuquerque for doctor visits.
Good choice of subject. Is the “smile” necessary? I appreciate she’s a survivor but there must have been loads of pain associated with this illness. Why not get real?
The “buning In” is a litle heavy-handed. You can see the “halo” around her. Never divulge your tricks or they become an issue.
