National Geographic Shoot-City of Rocks
The “city” is a truly geologic monument formed by large sculptured rock columns, or pinnacles, rising as high as 40 feet and separated by paths or lanes resembling city streets. These rocks were formed about 34.9 million years ago when a very large volcano erupted.
One of New Mexico’s most visited sights, this state park is uncommercialized and filled with strange rock formations.
City of Rocks is a large state park that is visited by 50,000 visitors every year. Visitors from all over the world travel to City of Rocks. Pictured below is a mother and daughter visiting from Florida. They are taking a road trip to California and along the way they made sure to stop at City of Rocks in Deming, New Mexico.
16 (well 32 if we count 2 semesters) weeks and the Featured Image is still an Icon not an image. That’s kinda sad really.
The story is a good start on a story. It’s a good story idea. But it needs more time invested. If you had, then you wouldn’t have to use a photo of a scowling woman, for example. You have some fine images of the landscape. I’d put in some of the rock formations in different light, I put in some other visitors to the rocks, I’d try a night shot (tripod no flash).
Your captioning is useful and adds to your effort.
Overall, not posted well (the icon), nice idea and core of photos but not complete.
