One of newest faces on TV, Monica Cortez currently serves as the daily morning weather forecaster for the El Paso, TX NBC affiliate, KTSM. Cortez is a graduate of New Mexico State University and was nominated as Best Newscaster Under 40 by What’s Up Weekly. She is currently working on receiving her certification in meteorology.

A legend in the making, Carlos Briano, a former El Dorado High School journalism teacher, was presented with the 2013 Teacher of the Year award not only for his school district in El Paso, TX but for the entire west Texas region, making him a finalist for the state award. Briano now serves as the Public Information Officer for the El Paso Fire Department.

A rising star to her own accord, Jennifer Lopez is one of UTEP’s fresh talent. During her time at the university, Lopez has worked on several entertainment projects in Los Angeles and in El Paso, TX. Upon graduation, she will return to Los Angeles where she will work with Dream Careers, the leading international internship program for college students.

  1. Good job Samuel.
    You have some sharpness issues that hurt your output.
    Captioning is very good.
    You need to drop off the focus for the background by use of aperture (and perhaps using the telephoto end of your zoom). Why? The background cloth is way too sharp. We can see the “folds” and the seams. Distracting. Background is supposed to be exactly that…a background. Sharpness implies importance.
    Good job but don’t leave details for a knowing viewer to pick at.
