NOCHE DE LUMINARIAS

On December 7, New Mexico State University celebrated the 30th annual Noche de Luminarias. The event was more than thousands of lights giving life to the campus but  also a celebration full of  music and games open for the entire Las Cruces community. ASNMSU and campus activities gathered volunteers from clubs such Engineers Without Borders and Students Council to program crafts activities for the children. Among these was Christmas paintings and the creation of mini-Christmas threes.  There was also cookie decorating and horse carriage rides along the lighted trails outside Corbett Center.

Bony Wells, vice president of the Government Graduate Student Organization says this is one of the event she enjoys the most as member of the club because of the interaction she gets to have with the kids. On top of that it also helps her club raise funds to attend conferences.

People also enjoyed mariachi music and dance performances by Dancers Unlimited of NMSU. The event was a great way to celebrate the end of another successful semester and the beginning of the Christmas season.

Attendees had the opportunity to write Christmas letters to our service men overseas. In charged of the table was Henrietta Morales who says she really enjoys doing this because being a military wife she recalls how difficult it is to be away from loved ones during holidays.
