This is Taylor Joray, he has a passion for conserving birds of prey. Even though a college schedule can be hectic, Taylor volunteers his time to check and maintain nine American Kestrel nest boxes for the Peregrine Fund.

This is Quinn Robinson, he studies mesopredators (medium sized predators). Quinn is studying Kit Foxes and their habitat, specifically the Kit Foxes at White Sands National Monument. Quinn’s research will provide insight into wildlife ecology in general but will definitely provide White Sands with information about that unique habitat.

This is Greg Franks, a geologic engineer. Greg is looking for new and innovative methods for oil and gas extraction.

  1. Post Production: You can’t sharpen something into sharpness. You tried. Probably too slow a shutter. Bump up the ISO. Check your Histogram in Photoshop. LEVELS! You’re underexposed.
    Shooting: Underexposed on at least two. Use your camera’s Histogram and your light meter. Learn to fill the shadows with minimal flash and then you can have it all: good rich backgrounds and the portrait well lighted.
    Subjects: all great and they’re a related theme: smart, young, nature-oriented, outdoors-oriented.
    It’s a neat series flawed by technique issues.
    Tighten it up.
    Even a B.A. occasionally has something to learn.
